9-Dec-2006 Sowmya and Keshava Perumal Temples before Hassan

Two great temples with amazing facts and idols.

Sowmya Keshava is in Nagamangala. It is also called as Anantha Kshethra. In the 7 tier, Raja Gopuram, Anjaneya appears with loin cloth only. It is a Krishna temple with the beautiful Lakshmi Narasimha sitting in Adisesha. Also, near the main entrance, there is Adiseshan in 'Shanku' in the roof. It is believed that the place removes all Naga related doshas. There are statues for Para Vasudeva, Chakrathalwar for Sowmya Nayaki.

Then we went to Bindiganvile where Channa Keshava Swamy temple is there. It is believed that People in Belur took a wooden Garuda from Kanchi for their place. But, Garuda refused to move from this place. Garuda with his two wives are on the left side to the God. Garuda and Anjaneya are in wood.

On the day we went, there was a family from Bangalore who performed special puja for the god. The family is in Bangalore and the husband is working in Tamilnadu. We had to wait for opening of the door. They invited us to join their lunch. But, I was not sure if there would be enough quantity and hence declined.

We went by Wagon R driven by Shibi. In the evening, Latha found that the left side of the car had a huge dent at the bottom - probably by some two wheeler scratching. It was a new car and I left it for Service and insurance on the next day, a Sunday.

686 / 09.45 / Break fast in Udupi Hotel. There were no other hotels at all. It was before Kunigal.

717 / 10.15 / Left turn
734 / 10.40 / Nagamangala, right turn Kambadahalli, Mahaveera temple
734 / 11.40 / Back after the temple; Left turn at Inspection Bungalow
750 / 11.55 / Right turn for Bindinganvile Temple. There is a board
752 / 01.20 / Left temple.
